X-Ray

 

To help doctors have an inspection of our body, X-Ray is used to help the job.

 

X-Ray is a form of electromagnetic radiation similar to ultraviolet and infrared light. But compared to ultraviolet and infrared, X-ray have high energy that can penetrate through most objects including human body. 

 

X-Ray used in health centre are used to generate images of tissues and structures inside the body to detect some irregularities. Since bones contain calcium and has relatively high atomic number, the X-Ray may not pass through thus creating a shadow. The opacity of the shadows depend on how much X-Ray are unable to pass through. If it can pass through, the image will be darker. It is similar to a flash light pointed to an object, if the light cannot pass through, it will create a shadow.
